Halton Hills Climate Action
Founded in 2019, we press four levels of government for positive action on climate.
We do this with rallies (at least 25 so far), letters to politicians, delegations at Council, petitions, and in-person meetings with elected representatives.
When the province threatened to develop the Greenbelt, we joined the crusade that forced a retraction.
When expansion of a fossil-fueled power plant was proposed here in late 2023, we packed our Council chamber and convinced Council to Say No.
We also provide climate education at farmers’ markets and other public events, and through occasional webinars.
Currently we have two volunteer teams focussed in specific areas:
The Town team encourages Halton Hills staff and Council to work towards net-zero emissions, energy-efficient housing developments, and climate-friendly urban planning.
The Trillium team deals with Ontario and federal issues, including Highway 413.

Build the right housing in the right places. We can build better to create a walkable, climate-friendly town that’s a good place for families, less car-dependent, and at less cost to taxpayers!
